DURING THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2000, CMF received official government registration in both Ethiopia and Singapore. These registrations provide more opportunity for ministry in those countries.

BRAZIL: The (area of the country) Comunidade de Cristo de Rebeirão Preto has 10 cell groups functioning under the leadership of 20 cell leaders. Over the past three years, 91 people have been baptized into Christ (over 80% by cell leaders), membership has grown from 32 to 110, worship attendance increased from 40 to 165.  During the past year, dozens of individuals and 12 churches from the USA participated in "The Blessing" project.  Literally thousands united in prayer and significant financial support, while 5 US churches joined to send 3 construction teams -- involving over 50 men and women -- to take part in the construction of a new facility.  On March 31, 2000, the voices of over 300 singing praises to their Lord resonated through the sanctuary, rooms and halls of the Rebeirão Preto church’s new worship and training center.

US INTERCULTURAL MINISTRY -- HISPANICS:
March 5, Fernando and Nona Soto conducted the first Spanish language service at Downey First Christian Church, Downey, CA.  This year-old ministry began with a cell group, Sunday School class, and Marriage Encounters.  Invitations were distributed by mail throughout the neighborhood in February, and 100 Hispanics and 29 Anglos responded. For the past five weeks, the average attendance has been 70 people.
