The
Word Answers Our Questions:
"Can
I Rely On The Bible?"
Acts
17:1-4 & Hebrews 4:12
NIV
Translation
Acts
17
1
When they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica,
where there was a Jewish synagogue.
2
As his custom was, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days
he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,
3
explaining and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the
dead. "This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Christ," he said.
4
Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large
number of God-fearing Greeks and not a few prominent women.

Acts
17
1 Paul and Silas
then traveled through the towns of Amphipolis and Apollonia and came to
Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue. 2 As was Paul’s
custom, he went to the synagogue service, and for three Sabbaths in a row
he used the Scriptures to reason with the people.
3 He explained the
prophecies and proved that the Messiah must suffer and rise from the dead.
He said, “This Jesus I’m telling you about is the Messiah.”
4 Some of the Jews
who listened were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, along with many
God-fearing Greek men and quite a few prominent women. |
Hebrews
4
12
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged
sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow;
it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. |
Hebrews
4
12
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest
two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow.
It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. |
