Hebrews
10:23-25; Matthew 5:13-16
NIV
Translation
Hebrews
10
23
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is
faithful.
24
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good
deeds.
25
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing,
but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Matthew
5
13
"You
are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can
it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be
thrown out and trampled by men.
14
"You are the light of the world. A city on
a hill cannot be hidden.
15
Neither do people light a lamp and put it
under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone
in the house.
16
In the same way, let your light shine before
men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." |

Living Translation
Hebrews
10
23 Let us hold tightly
without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep
his promise.
24 Let us think of
ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.
25 And let us not
neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another,
especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Matthew 5
13
“You are the salt of the earth. But what good
is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will
be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
14
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be
hidden.
15
No one lights a lamp and then puts it
under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light
to everyone in the house.
16
In the same way, let your good deeds shine
out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father." |
